What is competitive bidding and how does it affect your project when submitting a grant?

There is currently a wide variety of aid lines available to promote different types of investment that improve competitiveness and strengthen companies. These aids have large budget amounts to cover them, however, that does not mean that the budget is unlimited.

What happens when there are hundreds of companies applying for aid and a fund with a budget that, despite being large, does not cover 100% of the projects? Well, this is where the famous competitive competition, which has been dormant in many processes in recent years and is already beginning to be a competitive player in the presentation of Grants.

What do we understand as competitive competition?

This is a procedure used in the processing of subsidies in cases where there are several applicants. Grantees are selected on the basis of a comparison between the projects submitted, resulting in a evaluation note per project. The factors to be evaluated will depend on different criteria established in the regulatory bases of each call.

What evaluative criteria do we usually find?

Depending on what type of company we are dealing with and its circumstances and characteristics, we will have one score or another and we will have preference or not, before the rest of the applicants. This score is obtained with a series of scales or aspects. We will summarize some of them below:

Creation of jobs. Projects that provide employment, to improve the labor fabric of the territories, will obtain more points. What is really important here is the study of when it is worth incorporating jobs even though it is not fulfilled later.
Project localization. Normally, higher scores are given to projects developed in small municipalities.
Companies mainly owned by people belonging to groups at risk of exclusion or inequality. The companies with the most female members, young people over 30, people over 55, the long-term unemployed or people with disabilities are rewarded with the highest score. The more aspects of the above you meet, the more score your company will have.
Size of the company. They will obtain higher scores according to what type of companies.
Project Type. It is possible that extra points are awarded if you are going to carry out innovative projects or are aware of energy efficiency and sustainability.

What if we present upward valuation criteria and when they grant us the aid we indicate that they will not be met?

Once the concession resolution is published, the company must meet the criteria to which it has committed, so we recommend not trying to use this type of action since the institutions can understand it in a negative way and penalize the entire project.

How to have a winning project?

The interesting thing here is how to make a winning project Well, it's interesting to know where do I locate my project and what kind of project am I going to do. Along with the rest of the criteria, it is useful calculate the score we would get and to know if we are carrying out a current project, which may have many more competitors, or if we are dealing with an original and unique project. The presentation of this and its coherence also provide robustness to the project and its qualification. There are also several actions that can be a guarantee to safeguard our project, from dropping notes in the memory with respect to certain evaluation criteria to playing with those conditions that depend exclusively on the company.
